Hello! I’m Pamela Smith, a freelance photojournalist currently based in the New York City metro region. I am an alum of the University of Pittsburgh and completed a photojournalism internship at the Associated Press in New York in 2024. I was the managing editor of Pitt’s student newspaper The Pitt News, where I was also the visual editor for two years. I was a photography intern at the Pittsburgh City Paper in 2022 and Pittsburgh’s PublicSource in 2024. Outside of photography, I enjoy writing, playing the violin and exploring the city.

In 2023 I received the Xan Korman Memorial Scholarship from the National Press Photographers Foundation for my sports photography. In 2023 I also attended the Eddie Adams Workshop, where I received the Getty Images Sport award. In 2025, I attended the World Athletics Media Academy in Tokyo, Japan, photographing the World Athletics Championships.
